First Editing Post!
First Editing Post
Hey, fellow bloggers! Welcome to my profile and thanks for keeping up. Today, I'll be talking about how I've edited my film opener so far. We're steadily advancing the filming of our project, and I'd say after one or two more days of filming we'll be all done.
So far, we've used two applications or software to edit. First and foremost the mobile app CapCut. It's free on the Apple App Store and it includes transitions, speed changing, and also text. It's a mobile app, but regardless it's still one of the best free editing platforms there is. Besides that, we used iMovie a little bit too, and it comes free with I think every Apple product.
As far as effects used, we aimed to make our film appear more natural for the most part. We used iMovie to speed our video up during parts that appeared too slow. Notably, the scene of our main character walking through his home was way too slow-paced for our liking. After a quick speed up in iMovie I think it was perfect. Besides that, I used CapCut in order to add our title text in an interesting and eye-catching font. It also pops up by zooming in and centering in the middle of the screen. We also used my iPhone to include music in our short film. We screen recorded a non-copyrighted instrumental and then laid it over top of our video using iMovie.
When it comes to transitions, we once again wanted to go for more of a natural and seamless
look once again. We mostly used jump cuts, and occasionally some fades to black in order to keep more of a minimalistic look.
We didn't encounter too many problems editing, as we've obviously been planning out our film opener for quite some time now. The only thing that comes to mind was our video being slightly too long. Of course, the simple solution to this was trimming some of our clips down. On top of this, as I mentioned before, we sped up certain portions in order to make the film flow better.
