Camera Movement Blog Post
Shot 1: Shot 1 is a handheld shot following a student entering a school building. My goal was to show the student alone in the hallway.
I included a slide transition in between shots 1 and 2.
Shot 2: This shot is of a student exercising underneath the shade of a tree. It begins at the top of the tree, panning down to the student doing push-ups. I intended for it to show not only the student but also the scenery of the school.
I added a wipe transition in between shots 2 and 3.
Shot 3: This shot begins with the school's butterfly garden, and then slowly pans to show the same student from shot 2 sitting on the stairs.
I included a fade transition in between shots 3 and 4
Shot 4: This shot is similar to shot 1 since it is also a handheld over the shoulder shot. I intended for it to show the frustration of the student when he realizes there is vending machine is empty.
I added another wipe transition in between shots 4 and 5
Shot 5: This shot begins at a different student's feet and pans up to show the rest of her and what she is doing. It shows the student on her phone.
I really like the first shot. Since its a handheld shot it makes me feel like if I'm actually walking around the school with you. The shot created a very lively feeling. I also really enjoyed the fifth shot. This shot is very suspenseful since I didn't know what the protagonist was doing until it panned up and showed her on her phone.
