Movie Opener Brainstorming & Research
Hey, and welcome to my blog. Today I will be viewing the past work of other Media Studies students. With the first film opening; Rise, I noticed the common use of jump cuts and other cuts to keep the shots interesting. It definitely worked, as my eyes were completely glued to my screen. The Dare to Thrill film opening was equally as interesting to me. It used dolly shots and panning shots to create a more smooth look than Rise, rather than a sharp and thrilling ambience. The dark lighting of a parking garage creates fear in the watcher, along with adrenaline. On my first look, The Blue Boar was the most different an unique of all. It created a medieval or Victorian setting which I found very interesting and visually appealing. The blue of the woman's dress contrasts well against the bright green bushes and drab trees. Lastly, for the film by Valle Productions, it uses pictures to create a story in the watcher's mind. The vibrant pictures create a good story with the short shots of the woman, along with the old-timey images of her past.
