Preparing to Film
Preparing to Film
Hey fellow bloggers! Welcome to my blog. Today, I will be outlining me and my group's filming plans. As you know, our short film will be based off the success story of an up-and-coming athlete, and his mental and physical battles that lead up to him making his mark on the sports world. To begin, let's talk about who's doing what.
My groupmate, Luis, has been a basketball player all his life. That means that to us, it's only right that he play our main character. On the other hand, I'll be in charge of the filming process and making sure we get our angles right. Since our assignment is only to do a film opening, he will be the only actor and character.
As far as costumes go, a simple tank top and shorts is all we'll need for our opening scene. He just has to lace up some basketball sneakers and we're good to go. In terms of props, all we'll really need is a jumprope, a basketball, a hoop, and maybe some light weights. All of which we either already had or acquired for the purpose of filming this. All of those things will be used for the workout scene. Other than that, all that comes to mind is a toothbrush for the first scene, but I doubt that'll be hard to come by.
The best location to film our first scene would be in my backyard. It's quite spacious and the concrete floor is perfect for doing push-ups. For the free-throws scene we will drive to a local outdoor basketball court. I think outdoor is the best option as it better conveys the idea that our main character isn't the most wealthy. Regarding the time, the workout scene must be at around 12 P.M. on a day that is as sunny and scorching as possible. No script will be needed, as since there is only one character, he won't be speaking to anybody else.
Lastly, for film equipment, my brand new iPhone 13 has an amazing camera on it. The only thing that worries me is stabilizing it. For that reason, I've ordered a phone tripod and stabilizer to help aid with the filming process. All in all, besides stabilizing the camera, I don't see me or my groupmate having any trouble completing this film opening.
