 Color Use

Hey guys, and welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be talking about color theory and the role it plays in my film opener. Since me and my groupmate have already began filming, I have both ideas we've already applied and ones that we have yet to.

As far as costuming, our character sported an all black athletic outfit, including a tank top and shorts. Black is a color that signifies seriousness and power, both qualities that I want our character to have. The white touches on our character's basketball shoes signify sophistication and refinement, which suggests that he doesn't belong in the environment he's in, and that he's destined for greatness. These plain colors on the character himself create a serious and determined tone in our film opener.

When it comes to props, our character will use either a red jump rope or red weights. This is because the color red suggests a bold and courageous character. It also shows energy, which is obviously essential when our character is exercising. The plain, drab colors on the character but the hits of vibrancy on his workout equipment symbolize that his real personality and character come out when he is exercising or doing his passion.

Lastly, we are split between our outdoor scenes having a bright blue sky with white clouds and a beaming yellow sun, or it being night time with a white moon and a dark sky. On one hand, the blue sky during the daytime suggests a strong and dependable character who is motivated to achieve his goals. The yellow in the sun represents optimism and shows that he has hope and is positive for his future. On the other hand, a dark night sky once again shows seriousness, and that his training session has lasted so long it is night time. The serious atmosphere conveys that this is like work to him, and even if he doesn't like it, it must be done.
