Sound Post

Hey fellow bloggers, and welcome back to my account. Today, my blog post is about planning the sounds in my film opening. Since me and Luis haven't actually started filming, all we can do for now is set some guidelines and establish some ideas for our project.

First and foremost, the main source of sounds in our film opener will be diegetic sounds. In other words, these will be sounds that come from our recording. An example of this would be the "airy" sound of the jump rope and the sound of the rubbery rope slapping against the concrete floor. Another example is the dribbling of the basketball and the sound of the ball going through the net. These two sounds paired with silence are meant to signify how our main character is in "the zone" and is in a sort of flow state. This shows how determined he is and even his immense level of skill.

As far as non-diegetic sound, we will be using much less compared to diegetic sounds. If a diegetic sound like the swish of the basketball net is not as loud as we'd like, then we will re-record the sound and put it over the recording. Unless our plans change, I don't see us using much music as the silence paired with the training montage is symbolic.
