Prop Analysis

Hey fellow bloggers, today I'll be analyzing the use of props in my film opener. Although today's task was a supporting character analysis, I opted to analyze our props since we only have one character in our short story. Let's get started!

First and foremost, a prop we will be using is a jump rope, like the one pictured above. It will be part of our character's training routine. He will be extremely focused while jump roping, and in his "zone". His immense skill at jump roping is meant to highlight how long he's been practicing his craft, and how dedicated he is to making it big. The red color on the jump rope is meant to symbolize energy and passion, and that working out is something that lets his real personality show through. This contrasts from his plain black outfit, which is meant to convey a serious mood.

Other than that, our only other props will most likely be dumbbells and a basketball hoop. Honestly, though, these aren't as symbolic or elaborate as the meaning behind the jump rope. The only symbolism is that his shots are nothing but net, meaning he's skilled and has put a lot of practice into his shooting ability. Of course, our character is pretty skinny, so the weights are just to bulk up in order to become stronger. This strength will help him succeed in his sport.
